EZO wins £176m 15-year contract to deliver EV charging network across the Midlands of England

EZO, a leading EV charging provider in the UK and Ireland, has secured a 15-year contract valued at £176 (€206) million to deliver and manage electric vehicle charging infrastructure for four councils in the Midlands of England.

The rollout will see 250 new chargers installed for 2 million residents across Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Warwickshire County councils.

The project marks EZO’s second major UK contract in the last 12 months, bringing the company’s total UK contract value to €563m (£476m). It follows the €347m (£300m), 20-year contract signed in October 2025 to roll out charging infrastructure across the north of Scotland with EZO now operating over 400 chargers in the region and developing a further c.1,000 chargers.

The new Midlands contract has been awarded by the Fourth Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium (FMeviC) which is a joint partnership between four local authorities, Worcestershire County Council, Warwickshire County Council, Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council. The Consortium worked alongside Sub-National Transport Body Midlands Connect. The Midlands contract will be funded by the UK government and delivered by EZO, with no direct capital investment required from the councils.

The new regional initiative aims to accelerate the rollout of Electric Vehicle Chargers (EVCs) across the Midlands, supporting the UK government’s green transport objectives and contributing to the goal of installing 65,000 chargers by 2030. The project will focus on deploying rapid and ultra rapid EVCs across the counties, with a particular emphasis on areas reliant on on-street parking.

By prioritising local charging infrastructure, the initiative seeks to drive a step-change in EV accessibility, improve air quality, and support the decarbonisation of transport. The need for accessible EV charging has grown even more vital due to the Middle-Eastern crisis causing fuel prices to spike and which, when combined with a broad range of more affordable cars on the market, has led to record sales of New and Used electric vehicles across the UK in just the last two months.

Ollie Chatten, CEO of EZO, said: “This partnership in the Midlands is another major milestone for EZO and a clear demonstration of the trust local UK authorities are placing in us to deliver EV charging at scale. This rollout will transform EV charging in the Midlands, making it easier than ever for residents and businesses to switch to clean transport.”

“Our strategy is about more than deploying chargers – it’s about building the infrastructure backbone for the next generation of mobility across communities. We have over 140,000 drivers now accessing our platform across the UK and Ireland, and we see a path to growing steadily. We are firmly on course to become one of the most trusted EV charging providers in the UK and Ireland.”

EZO is backed by Rubicon Capital Advisors, which also advised on an investment from Aviva Investors in 2023.

The company operates more than 5,900 chargers across 2,100 locations, serving over 140,000 registered EV drivers in the UK and Ireland. It has recorded strong operational performance and consistent year-on-year growth in both markets.
